1 Peter 1:16b

““Be holy, for I am holy.” God was, is, and always will be holy. Man in our finite mind, no matter how brilliant one may be, cannot fathom just how holy God really is. Isaiah said, “For thus says the High and Lofty One Who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy” (Isaiah 57:15). He is so Holy that His Name is Holy. We ought to be aware anytime we use that word holy in our comments, unless we are using it properly and in the context of God and all that pertains to Him. The first word on the cover of your Bible is “HOLY”; the question is, do you regard it as HOLY and read it as Holy? It is Holy because God spoke it, that made it Holy. You say you believe in God, “You do well. Even the demons believe—and tremble” (James 2:19), but they’ll never be holy. You will never become holy on your own; you need to be in the Word for the Word to be in you. God is Holy, His Word is Holy, and it was given to make you holy. Our text today says “BE HOLY”, and it isn’t a suggestion!
