Numbers 15:39-40
“And you shall have the tassel, that you may look upon it and remember all the commandments of the Lord and do them, and that you may not follow the harlotry to which your own heart and your own eyes are inclined, and that you may remember and do all My commandments, and be holy for your God.” Even though this was for the Israelites when they came up out of Egypt, it fits well for us today. I think, we the Church of today, have taken for granted our salvation through Christ’s sacrifice. This verse means what it says, that you should remember what you’ve been commanded to do and do it. What are those commandments, “And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ And the second, like it, is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” (Mark 12:30-31). You are not to follow that which your own heart and eyes are inclined to follow, “But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves” (James 1:22). We are told in this verse what we should remember to do and what we should not do. For example, we should not do whatever we see or what is in our heart that are against God, such as doing what everybody else is doing. We are also to remember that even in serving the Lord God Almighty, if it’s not done in love, it’s nothing (1 Corinthians 13:1-3). Are you being holy for your God?
