Acts 2:28

“Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” Most Christians don’t know that the gift of the Holy Spirit needs a clean space to live. There are three points in our verse, first is repentance which is the turning away from the sins you once lived in before you asked Jesus to forgive you as you receive Him as the Lord of your life. Second is the being baptized which is for the “Remission” of sin. Remission is the removal of sin leaving no trace of it to regrow just as Chemo and radiation are designed to remove cancer, leaving no trace of it in the body. At the Last Supper Jesus, after He gave thanks, took the cup and says to His disciples, and us, “to drink from it, all of you. For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins (Matthew 26:27b-28). His blood wasn’t shed so you can keep sinning, but to wash it away, making it clean. Lastly, the receiving of the gift of the Holy Spirit. Notice, it’s a New Covenant, making you are a New Creation with a New life! You’ve been accepted, forgiven, cleansed and truly in remission. You are clean and the Holy Spirit comes in and helps keep you that way. Be attentive, before you do something that will make you dirty again. The Holy Spirit will warn you, listen! God will show you a way out (1 Corinthians 10:13), take it! Are you in remission? Stay that way!
