Romans 12:3
“For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly”. What Paul was writing to the Romans, he was saying to all of us. We sometimes look at others and measure ourselves based on what we see or know of the other person. The problem is that we don’t have all the information needed for a proper judgment. We do, however, have all the information about ourselves and are told to think soberly. If you want to measure yourself against someone, measure yourself against Paul; it will help shrink your ego. Humility isn’t a sign of weakness; it’s a sign of maturity. God knows how to humble us, but He won’t need to if we follow Paul’s teaching here, and not think more highly of ourselves than we ought to think. We can either be old and immature or we can think soberly about ourselves and grow into the mature Christians we should be.
