{"id":835,"date":"2026-10-21T01:12:33","date_gmt":"2026-10-21T01:12:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gettingcloserwithgod.com\/?p=835"},"modified":"2026-10-21T01:12:33","modified_gmt":"2026-10-21T01:12:33","slug":"october-21-26","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gettingcloserwithgod.com\/index.php\/2026\/10\/21\/october-21-26\/","title":{"rendered":"October 21-26"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Psalm 119:1-2<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u201cHow blessed are those whose way is\u00a0blameless,\u00a0Who walk in the law of the LORD. <a>How blessed are those who observe His testimonies, Who seek Him with all\u00a0<em>their<\/em> heart.<\/a>\u201d We could sum it up this way, \u201cDon\u2019t Compromise\u201d. According to Merriam-Webster, compromise is to \u201cmake something intermediate between or blending qualities of two different things;\u201d also, \u201cto make a shameful or disreputable concession\u201d. That is the same thing Christians do when engaging in \u201cHalloween\u201d, but to make things a little less evil at church, we call it \u201ctrunk or treat\u201d, instead of \u201ctrick or treat\u201d. No matter what name you give it, you compromise what God says with what the world says. Read todays verses again, and take note of the first two words in each sentence, \u201cHow blessed\u201d. Isaiah put it this way, \u201cWoe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who put darkness for light, and light for darkness (Isaiah 5:20). The word \u201cwoe\u201d is a lamenting voice because what is about to happen is not good. Think of it as the word you would use to stop a horse, the voice is higher and it means \u201cSTOP\u201d! I\u2019m not just talking Halloween, but every area of your life that would be a disreputable witness to those who know you, and God knows you. \u201cThe fear of the\u00a0Lord\u00a0<em>is<\/em> to hate evil\u201d (Proverbs 8:13) and, \u201cThe fear of the\u00a0Lord\u00a0<em>is<\/em> a fountain of life, To turn\u00a0<em>one<\/em> away from the <strong>snares <\/strong>of death\u201d (Proverbs 14:27) (Bold mine). Wisdom comes from above; compromise comes from the flesh.
