The past few devotions centered around God\u2019s abundant mercy for our living hope and all that comes with it, and \u201cin this you greatly rejoice\u201d. Keep rejoicing, even if need be, you have to be grieved by various trials. Some will go through great trials, while others won\u2019t have to go through any; it\u2019s done as God sees the greater good for each of us. Trials are for our good and not to destroy us. The word \u201cgrieved\u201d means to be sad, or made sorry, and is for discipline, not destruction, for perfecting, not punishment. We can rejoice because of what lies ahead, just as Jesus, for the joy set before Him, endured the Cross.
