Psalm 119:59-60<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI thought about my ways, And turned my feet to Your testimonies.<\/a> I made haste, and did not delay To keep Your commandments\u201d. Not only would this be a good way to describe what repentance is, but as far as keeping God\u2019s commandments, it\u2019s something we are called to do, \u201cIf you love Me, keep My commandments\u201d (John 14:15). What are the commandments? \u201cAnd this is His commandment: that we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ and love one another, as He gave us commandment. <\/a>Now he who keeps His commandments abides in Him\u201d (1 John 3:23-24a), and \u201cFor this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome\u201d (1 John 5:3). We are told here to think about our ways. Do they line up with God\u2019s ways? We are to judge ourselves to see if we are doing right in God\u2019s eyes, not ours or in the eyes of others. If our ways don\u2019t align with God\u2019s way, we should turn back to them, quickly without any delay. Is it burdensome to obey God\u2019s commandment of believing on the name of His Son Jesus? Of course not, nor should it be any harder to love one another. This involves two things, the first one is to \u201cLet<\/em> nothing be done<\/em> through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself<\/a>\u201d (Philippians 2:3). The second is not to be envious of a brother or sister in Christ (1 Corinthians 13:4a). If a brother or sister in Christ gets a position you desired, it was God\u2019s choice for His purpose, pleasure and Glory. \u201cLove covers all sins\u201d (Proverbs 10:12), that would include ours too.
