Ephesians 6:16

“above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.” When putting on the Armor of God every piece has its part and is important, so why does this one start with “above all”? Because this part of the Armor cannot be used without God. This part of the Armor shows the Presence of God, the Provision of God, and the Power of God. It was the Presence of God that scared the Philistines when they heard the noise in the Israelite camp they knew that the Ark of God entered the camp, 1 Samuel 4:6. The presence of God scares the enemy away. We see the Provision of God in 1 Kings 10:16&17 Solomon made the shields out of Gold. As we read through the Kings, beginning with Solomon’s son Rehoboam not following after God, the shields of gold were taken by the king of Egypt and Rehoboam made others out of bronze. It is a picture of the Christian not walking in reverence to God, His presence is gone, the enemy comes and begins taking away the things of God and in the flesh, they start in their power making provisions for themselves. Being in the Word and Prayer daily is the way we stay connected to God. The Power of God is seen in the Brightness of the Shield which blinds our enemy through our Faith. “As for God, His way is perfect; The word of the Lord is proven; He is a shield to all who trust in Him” (Psalm 18:30). Is your faith strong enough and your shield bright enough to blind the enemy?

Ephesians 6:16 “above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.” When putting on the Armor of God every piece has its part and is important, so why does this one start with “above all”?
