{"id":453,"date":"2024-01-17T01:04:46","date_gmt":"2024-01-17T01:04:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gettingcloserwithgod.com\/?p=453"},"modified":"2024-01-17T01:04:46","modified_gmt":"2024-01-17T01:04:46","slug":"january17-24","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gettingcloserwithgod.com\/index.php\/2024\/01\/17\/january17-24\/","title":{"rendered":"January17-24"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>1 John 3:18<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u201cMy little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth.\u201d It always amazes me when I hear someone ask to help another do something and they reply, \u201cLet me pray about it\u201d. Where would we be if we asked God for forgiveness and salvation and He replied \u201cLet me pray about it\u201d? That would be loving in word or in tongue. Jesus quoting Isaiah said, \u201c<em>\u2018These<\/em>\u00a0<em>people<\/em>\u00a0<em>draw near to Me with their mouth,<\/em>\u00a0<em>And honor Me with<\/em>\u00a0<em>their lips,<\/em> <em>But their heart is far from Me<\/em>\u201d (Matthew 15:8). Real love, God\u2019s love, is an action word. In deed and in truth, God showed His love for us on the Cross of Calvary. Aren\u2019t you glad it wasn\u2019t just in word or tongue. There was a saying back some years ago, WWJD, What Would Jesus Do, but I came up with another one, JDWJD, Just Do What Jesus Did, He gave us enough examples.
