Proverbs 14:2<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u201cHe who walks in his uprightness fears the\u00a0Lord, But\u00a0he who is<\/em> perverse in his ways despises Him.\u201d What does it mean to \u201cfear the Lord\u201d? Departing from evil (Proverbs 2:7),\u00a0\u201cA wise\u00a0man<\/em> fears and departs from evil\u201d (Proverbs 14:16), and \u201cby the fear of the Lord one departs from evil\u201d (Proverbs 16:6), and \u201cThe highway of the upright is to depart from evil\u201d (Proverbs 16:17). We are called to \u201cabstain from every form of evil\u201d (1 Thessalonians 5:22), not just some that we think are the worst forms, but every form of evil from bad thinking, lying, all the way to the worst thing you ever heard of. You cannot walk in uprightness if you haven\u2019t confessed your sins and repented of them. Do we know what it means to be perverse in our ways? It means to depart or become crooked. When you depart from the Word and prayer, you become crooked, and those that do, despise Him. \u201cNevertheless the solid foundation of God stands, having this seal: \u201cThe Lord knows those who are His\u201d, and, \u201cLet everyone who names the name of Christ depart from iniquity<\/em>\u2019\u201d (2 Timothy 2:19) (Italics mine). I was talking to someone and I told them, \u201cI heard it said that when we get to heaven there will be a line of people whose lives we touch as Christians, but I often wondered how many won\u2019t be there because I wasn\u2019t walking in uprightness\u201d. Ponder that statement for a moment.
