2 Chronicles 25:2
“And he did what was right in the sight of the Lord, but not with a loyal heart.” The word “loyal” in our text means “Whole”. A few weeks ago, our Devotion had to do with us fearing the Lord but serving other gods. If we sanctified ourselves and cleaned out the other gods, we are now able to do what is right in the sight of the Lord. But now we have another issue, doing it with our whole heart. It’s an issue we all deal with, it’s an issue of the heart. It’s the same problem Amaziah had, he still trusted in man. Where do you go when the money is gone and you just got paid but the bills are still due? Do you go to the Lord or to a family member or friend? When you get the bad news from the Dr., do you go to the Lord or call someone? We trust in the Lord, but not with all our heart, we still lean on our own understanding. We get the word “loyal” from another Hebrew word Shawlam, which might help us here, it means “peaceable”. When the storms come, and they will, it’s that peaceable heart that says, ok Lord, what are you doing and what is my part in it? God is working to give us a perfect heart, a peaceable heart, so when we are doing what is right in His sight it will be with a loyal heart. Are you letting God do His work in you to give you a “loyal heart”?
