1 Corinthians 14:1a
“Pursue love”. What are you pursuing? People pursue things in life like fame, fortune, and happiness, but for Christians, we are to pursue love. Without love, everything we do in Jesus’s name is useless. In 1 Corinthians 13:1-3 we see that without love we are noise makers, that become nothing, and in the end, gain nothing. We see what Jesus says about it in Matthew 7:22-23 “Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’” Love has everything to do with all that is called godly. “Above all things have fervent love for one another, for love covers a multitude of sin” (1 Peter 4:8). “He who does not love does not know God for God is love” (1 John 4:8). When we do things in love, people will see God. I ask again, what are you pursuing?
