Psalm 136:26
“Oh, give thanks to the God of heaven! For His mercy endures forever.” The first word is not one of reminder; it is an exclamation of awe which is shown with the exclamation mark at the end of the sentence. There are a whole lot of reasons listed in this Psalm to give thanks, but this last one hits the mark. We are to give thanks because He is good vs.1, God of gods vs.2, and Lord of lords vs.3. One of the greatest reasons to give thanks is because His mercy upon us will never end or be interrupted. Jesus tells us in Matthew 5:7, Blessed are the merciful, For they shall obtain mercy. Do you need mercy? I know I do, and it comes by mercy shown to others. Our mercy may be temporary, but God’s mercy endures forever. That is awesome and worthy of the exclamation of, OOhhhhh, give thanks to the God of heaven!
