1 John 5:18
“We know that whoever is born of God does not sin; but he who has been born of God keeps himself, and the wicked one does not touch him.” As with any scripture, this can be twisted as us being perfect, but needs to be kept with the thought of the rest of the sentence. When you are born of God, your desires become more heavenly and less worldly. Your passions become more for the things of God including cultivating your relationship with Him. You understand that your body is not yours anymore because “your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore, glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s” (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). You begin to discipline yourself to keep from sin, changing your thought life, and drawing closer to God. When you keep yourself, the only way the wicked one can touch you is by God’s authority (see the Book of Job). Does 1 John 5:18 describe you? It can, are you working on it?
