I Thessalonians 4:7
“For God did not call us to uncleanness, but in holiness.” We are called to holiness, not just asked if we wanted to be holy. Paul tells us through the Ephesians letter, “be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness” (Ephesians 4:23-24). You may have sung the song “Holiness is what I long for, holiness is what I need, holiness is what You want for me”, but did you mean it? Having a pure mind gives you a pure heart, and with that you can begin your journey into holiness. How do I accomplish that lifestyle you ask? It begins with your thought life, when things come into your mind you can either keep running with it until it is full blown sin, or you can tell God immediately that you know that thought didn’t come from Him and it isn’t for you, as you want to be pleasing to Him as you journey on to holiness. Notice three phrases used here, “called”, “be renewed in the spirit of your mind”, and “put on”. These phrases are action words, not “read only”. Remember, biblical information brings illumination that requires application to bring about transformation.
