Job 2:10b

“Shall we indeed accept good from God, and shall we not accept adversity?” Did you ever have a great week where nothing went wrong? How about a great year? We have probably had bad times. How about what Job just went through, lost his children, his business, his farm and all his animals with it, and his health. His wife’s reaction was anything but praise, and maybe somewhat like ours. How could Job respond the way he did? In God’s words, “Have you considered My servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, one who fears God and shuns evil?” (Job 1:8). His relationship with God. When I was a Chaplain on a Police Dept. and something would happen to someone and a family member would ask me “how could God do this?”, or “how could God let this happen?”, I would ask them about their relationship with God. If you don’t know God, you can’t understand why things happen like they do. It usually isn’t until later when we look back that we see God’s plan in all of it. I was a volunteer Chaplain for 8 years and a paid position opened for a Chaplain on the Sheriff’s Dept. but I wasn’t selected. When I didn’t get the job, I asked God why, but didn’t stop praising Him. A few months later a new Sheriff was elected and he let go all of the upper brass including the Chaplain. When things are going bad, look and see what God is doing, it’s for our good and His glory. When someone asks how is it going, I say “it’s going God’s way”.  You can either go with it or fight against it, but it will go God’s way.
