1 John 3:9
“Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God.” You may be asking, is this even possible? It is if you’re born again. You must first understand why you sin and do what you don’t want to. We are told, “But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin (James 1:14-15a). You can’t live like hell on earth and expect to go to heaven and become holy. Every true Christian will tell you, that before you sin the Holy Spirit gives you warning in that still small voice, and you either will heed His voice and push that sin away, or you will push the Holy Spirit away and sin. When you understand that, and remember you are a child of God, you begin to study Scripture, and putting things together you will find verses like, “Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; as obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts, as in your ignorance; but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct” (1 Peter 1:13-15). Plain and simple, you either push God out of the way and draw close to sin, or push sin out of the way and draw close to God. The choice should be obvious, but it is a choice that each you need to make every day. If you are still alive in ten years, do you want to be closer to God or still living in sin?
