Ephesians 6:14a
“Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth”. We need to remember the battle we are in isn’t of flesh and blood, so having to “Stand” is for two reasons, the first is the battle belongs to God. Before man was put in the Garden of Eden, Satan put himself against God and was thrown down from heaven and has been after God’s children ever since. We live in an evil age and we see it all around us. Prisons can’t hold all those sentenced there. Fortunately, some that are there hear the Gospel and come to Christ for salvation, but how many have walked away from Christ because Satan was able to deceive them? The second reason is that our place in the battle is to “Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth”. We see the word therefore, so we go back to the previous verse or verses and see it is to put on the “whole armor of God” not just the pieces we want, in which we are to stand. It is truth in our words, in our actions, and in our inward parts, that will hold our armor in place and keep us from tripping or falling. It is a reflection of our lives as Christians. “In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation” (Ephesians 1:13a). Do you know when someone is trying to deceive you using Scripture or when the enemy is trying to move you away from God with his lies about you? “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:31b-32). Study the Word, Stand in the Truth, Stay Free!
