Ephesians 6:18
“praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints”. There are two things that stand out as we consider this verse in putting on the “Armor of God”. Looking at all the text, at the end of verse 17 is a semicolon connecting the thoughts. Second, we see the word praying isn’t capitalized because it’s part of the armor. Fighting a battle needs to bathed in prayer before, during, and after the victory is won. Praying always in the Spirit is constant throughout the battle and can be done while working or driving and doesn’t mean you need to close your eyes to do it. Praying is just as important as the Shield of Faith and the Sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God. Praying is where we get the Power we need to use the Sword properly, and with precision. Being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints. This is the power of prayer on our knees, they are the personal prayers, bowed down and praying through that list of friends, neighbors, and people in your group settings that you said you would pray for, or church prayer list. Prayer is one of the most important pieces of the Armor and should not be forgotten. What battle are you going through now? Are you properly equipped with all the armor? Are you using the power of prayer?
