Psalm 31:3
“For You are my rock and my fortress; Therefore, for Your name’s sake, Lead me and guide me.” When you do something, whether it is good or bad, do you ever think of the consequences of your walk or if you are profaning the name of the Lord? When we are not in the Word (which is a Light to our path), nor led by the Spirit (which is our guide) as we walk this Christian life, we do what is right in our own eyes (Proverbs 21:2a). But when we “Observe and obey all these words which I command you, that it may go well with you and your children after you forever, when you do what is good and right in the sight of the Lord your God (Deuteronomy 12:28) there is a difference in our walk. Do you know how important it is to have Him lead and guide us and that it is for His name’s sake? Everything we do will either cause others to see a Holy God or cause them to blaspheme His name making us look like hypocrites. “I, even I, am He who blots out your transgressions for My own sake; And I will not remember your sins” (Isaiah 43:25) and, “I write to you, little children, Because your sins are forgiven you for His name’s sake” (1 John 2:12). The Psalmist understood this concept when He wrote Psalm 23:3 “He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake.” After you have been restored, and go through His Word, His leading you and guiding you with His Spirit, remember, it is for His name’s sake, His Holy Name’s sake.
