1 John 3:18

“My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth.” It always amazes me when I hear someone ask to help another do something and they reply, “Let me pray about it”. Where would we be if we asked God for forgiveness and salvation and He replied “Let me pray about it”? That would be loving in word or in tongue. Jesus quoting Isaiah said, “‘These people draw near to Me with their mouth, And honor Me with their lips, But their heart is far from Me” (Matthew 15:8). Real love, God’s love, is an action word. In deed and in truth, God showed His love for us on the Cross of Calvary. Aren’t you glad it wasn’t just in word or tongue. There was a saying back some years ago, WWJD, What Would Jesus Do, but I came up with another one, JDWJD, Just Do What Jesus Did, He gave us enough examples. Can we stop praying about helping others, and start showing His love to others in deed and in truth?
