2 Kings 18:6

“For he held fast to the Lord; he did not depart from following Him, but kept His commandments”. This passage is talking about King Hezekiah, and says, “He trusted in the Lord God of Israel, so that after him was none like him among all the kings of Judah, nor who were before him” (2 Kings 18:5). Our verse today teaches us why there was none like him among all the kings of Judah. The word “held” in our verse means to cleave to, follow close or be joined. Do any of those terms describe your relationship with God? Our verse also tells us that “he did not depart from following Him”. That doesn’t sound possible to us to depart from following Him, but many have turned from following Jesus because of something He said (John 6:66). For me, following Him is the only way to live. My wife and I have been through tough times, losing our house, being out of work with 6 kids and no income, my broken back, her breast cancer, and brain cancers. We held fast to the Lord, did not depart from following Him, and kept the Word. The Word was in us so when we needed it most it was right there working in our hearts. Hold fast to the Lord, do not depart from following Him, and Keep His Word! He’s coming back to get us, that’s a promise from the Word we can keep!
