The reason I started looking into getting closer to this Holy God of the Bible is because of Psalm 106:19-22, They made a calf in Horeb, And worshiped the molded image. Thus they changed their glory Into the image of an ox that eats grass. They forgot God their Savior, Who had done great things in Egypt, Wondrous works in the land of Ham, Awesome things by the Red Sea.
This had me wondering, if the Israelites could drift away from God after all the things He did for them in Egypt and the wilderness, how far have we drifted in 2000 years since the death and resurrection of Jesus?
There are all kinds of arguments for us thinking we are close to God and doing the right thing, but which one is right? Calvinism or Arminianism? The revival era we went through, or the health wealth and prosperity teachings. Maybe the Grace teachings that keep people struggling in sin and never set free because they still get to go to heaven. There’s always the rapture questions, does the rapture happen before the tribulation time, during the tribulation, or after the tribulation? What about the predestination theory? If you are predestined to go to heaven you can do anything you want because you’re going to heaven? I’m sure you get the picture.
With all these different scenarios can we honestly say we are on the right track? Maybe it’s more like everybody does what they want and say their church has the right teachings. So I started looking at all the things God did for the Israelites, what they did in return and how they disrespected Him. We are no different than they were, we just think we are.
God is Holy, He is alive and He is still in control. To get closer with God, we need to go back to the beginning and get a fresh perspective of Who God is. God the Creator of all mankind. How Holy and worthy of all Respect, Praise, Glory, and Honor He is. We cannot begin to fathom how Holy God is or truly understand it until we see Him. God created us with a space in our hearts only He can fill. The more we seek Him with all our heart, the more that space gets filled until we are walking in unity with Him.
